Dear Marta ,
Following my daughter's (May) visit to Poland and the Korczakianum.
It was a great surprise to us to find that you remember my mother’s name:
Yeudit (Judka) Glinoviecki (her family name before marriage was Laski),
Can you tell us , please, how do you know her or her name ?
Judka is now 92 years old and suffers of Dimentia (loss of memory),
I don't know how to explain it , but her clearest memories are from the
time she worked with Janush Korczak , just before the second world war broke in 1939.
I attach 3 pictures that May took in Warsaw.
I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you may have,
With best regards,
Dear Alex Gilon,
Thank you very much for your prompt contact and pictures. It was very moving to meet your dougther next to her granma photo.
We have in our collections a short memoir note written by Judka Glinowiecki in Israel (in Polish language). The note tells on her trainee work in Korczak’s Orphanage in late 30s and her later stay in Soviet Union where she had received a message on Korczak’s death. This note is a copy of the original text filed in Beit Lohamei Haghetaot Korczak’s Archive. We got it as a part of close co-operation with Israeli collegues. Also from Beit Lohamei Haghetaot we have got a copy of the photo with your mother in front set (Korczak is visible with children in the background) but until now there were no info who this young woman was…
We would be very grateful for any biographical infomation about Jutka Glinowiecki (nee Laski), e.g. in biographical entry form, especially on :
– birth date and place,
– education, professional work and public activity,
– other important data,
– family (before and after WWII),
– contacts with persons having relations with Korczak (e.g. former pupils, other trainees).
Very important to us are any documents, pictures and information if they still remain in your family collections or other places.
We are certainly also interested in all kind stories/memoires related to Korczak and his Orphanage if they are still remaining within your family.
These information would be very appreciated and would extend our knowledge about Korczak’s circle.
